The NBI Clearance Requirements – We’ve written a few articles on the NBI Clearance Requirements, but we’ll keep writing about them. We believe it’s a “hot topic”, having several visitors asking, “Hello Sir/Ma’am, what are the NBI Clearance Requirements?

You can easily know what are the requirements for NBI Renewal by just reading our articles and opening the links we provide.

When applying for an NBI Clearance Renewal Online, people search over Google to see what should they bring or what government IDs are required. NBI Clearance Renewal Requirement: Here’s what you need to know.

Two (2) Government Valid IDs

In order to be able to process your application for NBI Clearance, you will need to present two (2) Government Valid IDs. A list of the requirements for renewing the NBI Clearance will be provided later.

NBI Clearance Online Appointment

Are NBI clearances available without an appointment?

The answer is obviously NOPE! The NBI Online Appointment will be explained in a separate article to help you understand why it is necessary and how it helps you.

Anyhow, before you can enter the NBI Clearance Center premises, you must present an online appointment with NBI Clearance. This rule must be followed. If you don’t have an NBI appointment, don’t tell the guards or NBI personnel! This rule was implemented several years ago. The rules must be followed.

The rules are not absolute, however, as there are a few exceptions. For instance, a person can apply for clearance by walking in, but this topic will be discussed separately.

Renewal requirements for NBI clearances

Earlier, we mentioned that we would provide you with a comprehensive list of all the acceptable valid IDs for NBI Clearance. A minimum of two (2) must be presented. Choose your valid IDs.

  • Expired NBI Clearance
  • SSS ID (UMID)
  • GSIS ID (ID)
  • Philippine Passport
  • Philhealth ID
  • Voter’s ID or Certificate of Registration
  • TIN ID
  • PRC License
  • Driver’s License
  • PAG-IBIG ID
  • NSO/PSA Authenticated Birth Certificate
  • Postal ID
  • Police Clearance Issued by the Police Station within the jurisdiction of the application’s residence
  • Certification from Local Civil Registrar
  • Certification from Malacanang for Indigenous Groups, Tribal membership and foundling
  • Solo Parent ID
  • Seaman’s Book
  • Senior Citizen ID
  • MARINA ID
  • Security License ID issued by PNP for Security Guards

SSS ID (UMID)

NBI Clearance Applicant’s ID is a plastic laminated card issued by SSS that proves they are Social Security System members. It is recommended that you secure your SSS ID from your local SSS branch if you do not yet have one.

GSIS ID (UMID)

Employees currently employed by the Government are exclusively issued the GSIS ID. A GSIS ID card acts similarly to the Social Security ID card in proving membership to the agency. There are fewer people who have this than who had the previous SSS IDs because membership is exclusive.

Philippine Passport

Philippine passports are official documents issued by the Philippine Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), certifying the holder’s identity and citizenship and allowing him or her to travel internationally.

When traveling abroad, whether for leisure or for work, the Philippine Passport is most often used. A passport booklet typically contains the owner’s personal information, including his or her photo, signature, date and place of birth, date of issue and expiration of the passport, as well as the passport number.

PhilHealth ID

PHILHIC or Philippine Health Insurance Corporation was created under the government’s control and ownership (GOCC) to ensure the welfare of Filipino citizens through social health insurance. In case a member meets the requirements, PhilHealth will issue them a free ID. NBI Clearance applications can also be made using this ID.

PAG-IBIG ID

A PAG-IBIG ID also qualifies as a NBI Clearance Renewal Requirement just like the items above.

In addition to managing our national savings program, PAG-IBIG Fund, also known as HDMF (Home Development Mutual Fund) is a Philippine government-owned cooperative corporation. In addition to offering affordable shelter financing, this agency offers other benefits to its members. A PAG-IBIG identification card is also available, which serves as a NBI renewal requirement.

Voter’s ID Or Certificate Of Registration

Philippines citizens are easy to register as voters and get their voter IDs. All you have to do is go through the Commission of Elections (COMELEC) registration process.

Registration certificates and voter identification cards will be issued to registered voters. The NBI Clearance can be based on this requirement.

TIN ID

A Tax Identification Number ID is a document that is issued to each tax payer by the Bureau of Internal Revenues. This document is sure to have come across your desk if you’re employed.

If you are applying for NBI online, this is also applicable.

PRC License

Filipino citizens who have passed the Professional Regulatory Commission Licensure Examination and are at least 18 to 21 years old and have graduated or hold a degree from any university will be issued a PRC License for their chosen profession.

Driver’s License For NBI Clearance Renewal Requirements

“Having a driver’s license is not a right, its a priviledge.”

The Driver’s License Exam question still sticks in my head. The phrase will not be forgotten by me. The Land Transportation Office only authorizes those authorized to handle moving vehicles to use this service. This ID can only be obtained after passing both the written and practical LTO driving examinations.

NSO/PSA Authenticated Birth Certificate

In order to establish a child’s birth, a certificate authenticated by the NSO or PSA is necessary. This document contains information on the date, time, and place of birth of an individual. The information includes the full name, the names of the parents, and the city, municipality, and province in which the person was born.

NBI Clearance Online Renewal Requirements are frequently confused with NSO or PSA Authenticated Birth Certificates. In reality, it is acceptable. It won’t be a problem as long as the birth certificate has been authenticated by PSA or NSO, and is accompanied by another government issued identification listed here.

Postal ID Card

Philippine postal IDs are widely accepted for identification purposes in postal transactions, making them a primary means of identification for many Filipinos. In addition, banks and other financial institutions use it as a form of identification in transactions.

Anyone can apply for Postal ID by proving their identity with one document.

The police station within the applicant’s jurisdiction must issue a police clearance

Any individual can obtain a Police Clearance by merely applying in any police station located in the jurisdiction of their residence, which is another valid NBI Clearance Renewal Requirement.

Taguig’s Police Station is the only location where applicants can apply for a Police Clearance if they currently reside there. If an applicant does not prove residence in one of the Philippines’ police stations, no clearance will be issued to them.

Senior Citizen ID

As long as they provide a Senior Citizen ID, Senior Citizens can also take advantage of a “walk in NBI Clearance Application,” without having to schedule an NBI Clearance appointment. In order to obtain this ID, senior citizens need to contact the Municipal Department of Senior Citizen Affairs. Municipal Hall is usually the location of the said office.

Security License ID Issued By PNP For Security Guards

Even our fellow Security Guard who are employed to protect an establishment or a person against physical damage or any unlawful acts has their own exclusive valid ID which is also adequate for applying NBI Clearance.

The aforementioned valid ID is issued by Security Licensing Division to all the private security personnels.

MARINA ID

To prove their professional identity, all Merchant Marine Officers receive the MARINA ID from Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA). Financial transactions with various financial institutions and government agencies can be conducted with any MARINA ID.

A Malacanang Certificate of Recognition for groups and individuals belonging to indigenous tribes and foundlings

NBI Clearance Renewal Requirements can also be met with Malacanang certifications for specific purposes, such as recognition of membership in certain tribes or indigenous groups.

Solo Parent ID

A Solo Parent ID is a government issued valid ID for all Filipino solo or single parents in the Philippines. Any Solo parents who have this ID can take advantage of specific discounts and benefits mandated by law.

Another usage of this valid ID is it can be presented as a requirement in your NBI Clearance renewal application.

Seaman’s Book

The Philippine Government issues this valid ID exclusively to seafarers as a record of their service. According to the 1978 International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), this certificate verifies that the owner is a seaman.

In addition to the Seaman’s Book, crew transit visas require the document.

It is the Seaman Service Book that records the record of employment on board a merchant ship (sea service). 

Certification From Local Civil Registrar

It may be possible for the Local Civil Registrar to issue a temporary replacement Birth Certificate for someone who does not have a birth certificate available yet. If you are applying for NBI clearance, you must present this document.

Conclusion On The Renewal Requirements For NBI Clearances

In reviewing all the valid IDs we discussed above, please remember (this is important), all of them must be:

  • A good condition would be one without tears, stains, or bear bite marks, nor one that has been submerged in water or flooded.
  • Still valid, meaning not yet expired. Well, except for your old NBI Clearance.
  • Personal information is still visible, such as photos, names, signatures, and other details.
