What You Need To Do if You Want To Apply Online for NBI Clearance in 2024

NBI Clearance has played a significant role in our lives. It was my first employer who asked me to submit my copy as part of my Pre-Employment requirement that I can still remember when I first developed my copy.

It was so confusing for me, as 15 years ago, NBI Clearance still required you to physically visit a branch to process your paperwork. Today, it’s much easier and faster!

The NBI Appointment can now be booked or scheduled one day in advance, and it will be processed on that date. As for the introduction, I won’t keep it long and we will move on to our NBI Clearance Online Tutorial.

In 2024, We will be Introducing the NEW online NBI Clearance Application Process

It is important to first consider what type of applicant you are before proceeding with the NBI Clearance Application? Does this make you the first time you are applying for your NBI Clearance or do you want to renew your clearance?

In this guide, you will find guidance based on your situation, whether you are an NBI Renewal Applicant or a First-Time Applicant.

It is important to know what type of applicant you are, since there are different processes depending on your status.

Online Applications for NBI Clearance for the first time

We have everything you need if you are applying for your first NBI Clearance for 2024.

With our help, you can complete your NBI Clearance Online Application! In order to apply for NBI clearance, you must read our tutorial carefully.

It is our goal to make this tutorial easy to follow and user-friendly, so anyone can apply for NBI Clearance in 2024 quickly and easily.

The steps below will guide you through the process of applying for your first NBI clearance in 2024.

  1. Register an Account with NBI Clearance Online Website
  2. Log In to your NBI Clearance Online Account
  3. Complete your Personal Information for NBI Clearance Purposes.
  4. Schedule An Appointment with NBI Clearance Appointment System
  5. Pay your NBI Clearance
  6. Process your NBI Clearance in NBI Clearance Branches

NBI Clearance Online Renewal

You might (probably) be a NBI Clearance Online Renewal Applicant if you do not qualify as a first time applicant. As a result, you are one of the following:

  1. Your NBI Clearance is already in place, but you don’t know how to apply for it.
  2. The NBI Clearance online account you are trying to access is not accessible due to an expired or unexpired clearance.
  3. You can access your NBI Clearance Online account if you have an NBI Clearance.

Okay, let’s break each item down.

Your NBI clearance has already expired, but you haven’t figured out how to get it renewed.

Though you are not a first time applicant, we still need to follow the steps to get an NBI clearance for a first time applicant. Your NBI Clearance will be successfully processed if you follow those steps.

You can also apply for another NBI clearance if you already have one before, but cannot figure out how to apply again, what you have to do is to follow the instructions that I have written in NBI Clearance Online First Time Application.

Your NBI Clearance Online Account is inaccessible because you have an expired/unexpired clearance.

It is my recommendation that you follow the same steps I have illustrated in NBI Clearance Online First Time Application if you currently possess an NBI Clearance, whether it is expired or not, but you are unable to access or log in to your NBI Online Account for various reasons.

My assumption is that you are unable to log into your account because you cannot remember the email address you used when you registered with NBI Clearance. Is it possible you are unable to use the forget your password feature because you do not have access to your old email address?

You can use the “Forgot my password” feature on the website if you can still recall the email address you used when creating your NBI Online Account. 

Here’s the tutorial on how to use the Forgot your password feature of the website.

You can access your NBI Clearance Online Account if you have an NBI Clearance.

As a result, if you are one of these applicants who would like to renew your NBI Clearance and are capable of accessing your NBI Clearance Online Account, but (for some reason) have forgotten how to do it, I would advise you to start by reading and following my tutorial starting with logging into your NBI Clearance Online Account.

It is unnecessary to follow the other steps, so you may skip them. For your convenience, here is a summary of the steps you need to take:

  1. Log In to your NBI Clearance Online Account
  2. Schedule An Appointment with NBI Clearance Appointment System
  3. Pay your NBI Clearance
  4. Process your NBI Clearance in NBI Clearance Branches

Did you notice that your steps are shorter than those of a first-time applicant? NBI Clearance Online Accounts do not need to be registered because you already have one.

The Personal Information section does not need to be filled out since you have already completed it. Your personal information may need to be updated if you want to make changes.

NBI Clearance Online Website

Click on the clearance.nbi.gov.ph link to access the official website of the NBI Clearance Online Application.

NBI Online Application can be started at clearance.nbi.gov.ph registration, an online portal for NBI online applications.

There are several functions users can perform on the landing page of the NBI Clearance Online website. These are the following:

  1. Register an account– to set up an NBI Online appointment to process your NBI Clearance Application, applicants need to create an account with NBI Clearance. First-time users of the website who do not have an account will be able to use this feature.
  2. Sign In to NBI Clearance Online Account – An account is available to all users and they are able to schedule another appointment for the processing of their NBI Clearance.
  3. NBI Clearance Online Verification – Users can verify the authenticity of their own or another person’s NBI Clearance through this feature. It’s worth mentioning that this service only captures NBI clearances issued in 2018 (if I’m not mistaken).
  4. First Time Job Seekers – A page or section that is specifically designed for first time job seekers. There are a lot of applicants here who just graduated from college or high school. A free version of the service is available to you, but you will need to meet additional requirements in order to use it.

As for now, I can only give you a brief description of what each of the items mentioned above does, but we will discuss them in more detail at a later date.

NBI Clearance Online Account Sign In

The website provides a Sign In section for applicants who already have their online NBI Clearance accounts. If you do so, please enter your user name and password.

Are you having trouble logging into your NBI Clearance Online Account? No Problem!

The “Forgot Password” feature is available if you have forgotten your password. You can access the forgot password page of NBI Clearance by clicking the text link below the Email Input box.

You will be asked to input your registered email address when you click the forgot your password link.

Ensure you have found the mail entitled “NBI Online Services: Request for a new password” in your email account.

The email from NBI Clearance Online looks like this:

There is a button or link that needs to be clicked in order to reroute you to a different page where you can reset your password. You can reset your password by clicking on it.

Two input boxes appear once you reach the destination page so that you can enter a new, secure password.

In nominating a password, make sure to follow these rules:

  • Make it long – A password should be long enough to be difficult to guess. Make your title at least 15 characters, preferably more.
  • Make sure to use a mix of characters – use lowercase and uppercase letters, numbers, and symbols to make it harder for hackers to guess your password.
  • Avoid common substitutions – this is a common practice where letter O is replace by 0 (zero). So if your password is “door123”, you usually do this “d00r123”. Avoid this because password crackers are designed to use this pattern.
  • Never use memorable keyboard paths – you probably use the qwerty123 password a lot. These methods should also never be used. The software used to crack passwords also follows sequential keyboard paths. 

The “Reset” button will appear once you’ve selected a secure password. If the password reset was successful, a small notification bar (green) will appear after a few seconds.

Note that no email will be sent as a confirmation of the password reset is successful so watch out for that notification.

Now that you have reset your password. You may now proceed logging in to your NBI Clearance Online Account.

You have forgotten your NBI Clearance Online Account (Registered) email address.

Okay, don’t panic. Have you forgotten the email address you registered with NBI Clearance Online?

There will be a problem here, plain and simple. However, don’t panic. Let me explain this to you.

NBI Clearance Online does not have the capability of retrieving your registered email address on its new website for 2024.

Unlike a password that can be reset easily, a username and email address are nearly impossible to retrieve. 

You can still register for a new one, but don’t worry, we have a workaround. Here are the steps you should follow so you can still make an appointment for NBI clearance through the Online NBI appointment system.

Create a new email address

In order to create a new email address, all you need to do is to forget what email address you have registered on the NBI Clearance website. It is recommended that you create a new GMAIL account.

You are probably already familiar with how to set up a new email address, so I won’t go into detail.

After you’ve completed the above steps, go back to the NBI Clearance Online 2024 website and create a new account.

“Question? Is it ok that I have two (2) accounts on the NBI Clearance website?”

Yes! It’s completely fine to have more than one NBI Clearance account. NBI Clearance’s official website is designed to handle large amounts of information and data, so a duplicate account from one person is not an issue.

The steps below will help you create a NBI Clearance account (link for NBI Clearance Account Registration).

NBI Clearance Account Registration For 2024

NBI Clearance has a registration section on its website where you can register an account. You will usually find it in the upper right corner of your screen, whether you are using a laptop or a desktop. You can access NBI Clearance Registration by scrolling down a little bit on your mobile phone.

It is important to fill out the personal information of the applicants when applying for NBI clearance online.

At the moment, ignore those items and pay attention to the following text:

“HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN SINCE YOU HAD AN NBI CLEARANCE? ”

To check or click on the NO box for your response, tick the box that represents your response if YES or NO.

To clarify why you were asked to answer NO, the YES answer is for people who do not have an NBI Clearance ONLINE Account and have their NBI Clearance issued before 2014. The word I bolded and underlined is emphasised. In other words, NBI’s database already contains your name and other personal information.

In this case, however, there is the problem that the database of NBI Clearance is not always accurate. The personal information of a few people who did not have their NBI Clearance is not already in the database.

I always suggest that everyone simply respond to the NO checkbox in order to prevent this from happening.

There will be changes to the requirements and input boxes for personal information.

The following information about you needs to be entered now.

  • Gender
  • Civil Status
  • Birth Date (Month, Date and Year)
  • First Name
  • Middle Name
  • Surname
  • Mobile Number
  • Email Address
  • Password

“Question: What if I don’t have a Middle Name? What should I put in the Middle Name Input Field? What will appear in my NBI Clearance?”

Several times, we have already dealt with this topic and answered this question. When entering your Middle Name, enter “MNU” for those applicants without one.

Middle Name Unknown is referred to as MNU. As far as the law is concerned, it is acceptable.

Once you have typed all the information requested, check the box for “READ and ACCEPT TERMS OF SERVICES ”. 

You will be able to see the website’s Terms of Service. it is optional to read it. The next step requires you to click “AGREE”.

In the NBI Clearance Online Registration Form, once all the information and boxes have been filled out, you may now click the sign up button.

Account Registration Online by NBI Clearance OTP (One-Time Password)

After the steps above, two things will happen.

A One-Time Password will be sent to you via the NBI Clearance Online Application website. The email and text message will be sent to the email address and mobile number you registered with.

Your registered mobile number or registered email address will be asked for an OTP to complete the NBI Clearance Online process.

A single OTP will be sent to your email address and mobile number when you register for NBI Clearance Online.

NBI Clearance Online will send the OTP to you via SMS as shown in the following screenshot.

The email with the OTP will be sent to you, too.

In the space provided on the website, enter the NBI Clearance OTP correctly and click “Submit”.

It will appear as a green notification after you enter the OTP for the NBI Clearance Online Application correctly:

Our portal has successfully registered you”

The NBI Clearance Online portal recognizes you as an existing user.

It is important to note that it is mandatory to enter the OTP within 5 minutes or it will expire. A new One-Time Password (OTP) can be requested if the existing one expires by simply clicking the “Re-send One-Time Password (OTP)” button.

The email address you entered will receive another OTP. It will proceed with the registration once you enter the new OTP.

Successful Registration

In the NBI Online website, a small green notification confirms that your account has been successfully registered.

It may be easy to miss since it will only appear for a brief period of time, but don’t miss it.

You will also be redirected to the home page where the log in section is located once you are registered.

It should be noted that you will not receive an SMS or email confirmation confirming the successful completion of your registration.

NBI Clearance Online Account Log In

After registering an account, you can access NBI Online and begin the application process.

Enter your registered email address and password correctly in the upper right corner of your screen, then click “Sign in”.

Completion Of Applicant’s Information

The incomplete Application Information will appear when you log into your NBI Online Account for the first time. You will be responsible for completing the missing information, such as:

  • Middle Name (if available)
  • Gender
  • Nickname
  • AKA/Other Name
  • Birth Place
  • Citizenship
  • Complete Address
  • Mobile Number
  • Father’s Name and his Birth Place
  • Mother’s Name and her Birth Place
  • Educational Attainment
  • Occupation
  • Religion
  • Height
  • Weight
  • Complexion
  • And lastly, If you have Identifying marks (ex. Scar, Mole etc.)

Please note that your First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, and email address cannot be changed? These information are used by the website to identify each user and are part of the account registration process.

To save your progress, click “Save Information”.

This will lead to a small window displaying all of your personal information. You should review your document to make sure you haven’t made any typographical errors, and to make sure all the information you’ve typed is correct.

Click on the “Submit” button.

Once your profile has been saved, you’ll see a small banner letting you know. 

“Question: What if I have typographical errors in those Personal Information which I cannot change in the NBI Online Application Portal?”

The topic of editing your personal information will be discussed in greater detail later on. 

The next page will show you all your personal information.

It is important that you review all of the information you have entered before moving on.

The “Edit Button” can be used in case of typographical errors or to update one or two personal information.

Since we will be covering several topics, we will discuss this separately.

Editing NBI Application Information

By simply following these steps, you can easily modify any of your personal information written in your NBI Application.

We’ll skip the part about logging in to your NBI Online Account since you’ve already done that.

Click on the “Edit Information” button in the upper right corner of your screen.

Your NBI Application Information page will now appear where you can modify or edit all the information you have entered.

If any information needs to be changed, please do so.

When you are finished reviewing your changes, click the “Save Information” button and then click the “Submit” button.

Would you be able to change my First Name, Last Name, Email Address or Date of Birth if they are incorrect? How can I do that?”

In your NBI Online Account and NBI Clearance, these fields and information are vital. You cannot edit them. 

There is a workaround for this, don’t worry.

The only thing you can do in the case that the information is clearly incorrect or a typo error is to proceed with your NBI Clearance application. Then schedule an appointment, pay your NBI Clearance Fees, and show up at your scheduled appointment.

I’ll tell you how it works now. If you want to change any typographical errors or erroneous information, please notify the NBI Clearance Staff during the Personal Information Verification process, which takes place during or after your photo and biometrics are taken.

In order to prove that it is true, bring additional proof like a birth certificate from the NSO or a valid identification card.

You can change it with the help of the NBI Clearance Staff. 

NBI Clearance Appointment Scheduling

It is here that you schedule an appointment in order to process your NBI clearance.

You can begin this step by clicking the “Apply For Clearance” button while still logged into your NBI Clearance Online Account.

It will appear in a small pop-out window. The window will ask you two questions:

  1. What type of ID are you bringing?
  2. What is the ID Number of that Valid ID you have selected?

You can select the Valid ID from the drop down list. Please note that the list of Valid IDs are the only identification cards or documents acceptable by NBI Clearance Branches as the requirement in processing the NBI Clearance.

If you didn’t find your ID from the list, that means they don’t accept it and will not honor it as a requirement.

The Philippine National ID, which has just been released, is missing from the list. The NBI Clearance Requirements List has not yet been updated, however, I can vouch for the validity and acceptability of the Philippine National ID.

In your plastic or laminated physical ID card, you can easily find the ID Number. Enter it in the provided text box by copying and pasting.

Press the “I Agree” button to proceed.

The pop-up window will once again appear with important information for NBI Clearance Online applicants. It simply says:

Following the selection of your PAYMENT OPTION, you will receive a REGISTRATION CODE or REFERENCE NUMBER.

If you enter the Clearance Processing Area of the NBI, your REFERENCE NUMBER will serve as your GATE PASS.

In order to avoid long lines and inconvenience, please pay your NBI CLEARANCE FEE with your REFERENCE NUMBER.

Thank you!”

You can close the window by pressing the “Close” button.

The online appointment system for NBI Clearance will appear once you complete these steps.

The page contains five (5) sections and these are:

  • NBI Branch selection list
  • Date picker that looks like a calendar where you want to schedule your appointment.
  • The NBI Clearance Fee
  • Appointment Schedule
  • And lastly, the mode of payment.

NBI Clearance Branch Selection

Your NBI Clearance Online Application can be processed by selecting the NBI Branch where you wish to make your appointment.

You can find it by clicking the arrow down.

Here I am selecting the Manila (UN Avenue) Clearance Center (Main Branch) as an example.

A separate post contains a list of NBI branches located throughout the country. Branches of NBI Clearance will be updated further down the road.

Appointment for processing NBI clearances at a specific time and date

The available NBI Branch slots will appear once the branch is selected.

On each date, you will see two buttons representing AM and PM. In addition to the blue button, there is a list of the slots that are available. It’s a holiday in red, while it’s a full slot in gray. 

Choose a date by pressing the button inside.

After selecting the date and time for your appointment, the Appointment Schedule section will update accordingly.

In addition, notice how much you must pay in NBI Clearance Fees.

A base fee of P130.00 applies to NBI Clearance. If you use an e-payment service, you will be charged an additional P25.

Mode Of Payment For NBI Clearance Fee

On the website, you have the option of selecting the payment option for your NBI Clearance Online Appointment.

Thus, I will use GCash as the payment method in the tutorial above. 

If you do not prefer using GCash to pay for your NBI Clearance Fee, you can use other payment methods such as 7-Eleven, Bayad Center, etc. NBI Clearance Fees can be paid using the links below.

To make a payment, select GCash from the payment options. Yellow is the color you want.

The instructions will appear in a small window. You should read it carefully.

The instruction says three steps:

  1. A REFERENCE NUMBER will be generated
  2. Use your GCash App
  3. Pay using your REFERENCE NUMBER or scan QR Code

I think it’s pretty straightforward. When I click the “Proceed” button, I generate a NBI Clearance Reference Number.

It will then be necessary for me to pay for it using my GCash App. My transaction will be paid with the NBI Clearance Online Reference Number.

When you’re finished, click the “Proceed” button so that the NBI Online Reference Number can be generated.

An overview of all transactions will be displayed. Your NBI Online Appointment should be reviewed to ensure that it is accurate.

NBI Clearance Branch Selection

Your NBI Clearance Online Application can be processed by selecting the NBI Branch where you wish to make your appointment.

The NBI Clearance Online Payment Reference Number will appear in another small window.

Pay attention to the increased Total amount from (previously) P130 to P155. Our e-payment is subject to a P25 System Fee because we are using an e-payment.

You can take a screenshot or write it down to remember that. Again, I cannot emphasize how important this information is when booking your NBI Clearance Online Appointment.

After copying the NBI Clearance Reference Number, press the “Accept” button.

The dashboard will now appear, displaying your Personal Information, the “Apply for Clearance” and “Edit Information” buttons, as well as the sidebar menus with Application, Transactions, Contact Us, and Privacy Policies.

Your task is almost complete.

Your NBI Clearance will be paid in GCash once everything has been processed.

You need to go to the “Transactions” section before we continue. Under the Application heading in the sidebar menu. Click here!

The NBI Clearance Online portal will display all your transactions and scheduled appointments.

NBI Clearance Fees will now be settled using the GCash application installed on our mobile phones.

The NBI Clearance Fee can be paid at any 7-Eleven (7-11) branch by reading our tutorial on how to do so.

Payment Of NBI Clearance Using GCash

Our goal in this section of the tutorial is to give you an overview of how to use GCash to pay your NBI Clearance Fee.

It is assumed that you have a functioning GCash app on your mobile device. So let’s get started.

First thing to do is log in to your GCash app.

In this post, I will not go into detail about how to download and install the app, register and log in, and add funds to your GCash account.

Check your balance if the NBI Clearance Fee is covered by your balance once you log in. The NBI Clearance Fee should be paid with a minimum of 155.00 in available balance.

Press the “Pay Bills” icon.

In the “Pay bills” page, press the search text box and type “NBI”. The NBI logo will appear, press it to select it.

After selecting the NBI logo, this page will be displayed. You need to fill out the required information to proceed with the payment of your NBI Clearance Fee.

We already have the NBI Clearance Reference Number which we got from the NBI Clearance Online Website.

The amount entered should be the same as what appears on the NBI Clearance Fee Payment / Transaction Summary (P155.00).

Click on “Next” above to move forward.

Proceed to payment by pressing the “Confirm” text link after reviewing your details.

If there are any errors, you can still go back. Check the NBI Clearance Reference Number twice or three times before you submit it. You will forfeit your payment if you pay for the incorrect NBI Clearance Reference Number, and it will not reflect on your scheduled appointment status.

The payment will proceed once you click the “Confirm” text link.

GCash’s payment receipt is shown in the image above. A SMS message will also be sent to you regarding the transaction.

There you have it! Your payment will be reflected on the NBI Clearance website’s “Transactions” section if you did it correctly.

We can see these changes on the NBI Online Appointment website if we go to the “Transactions” section (see image below).

Are you able to tell the difference between the two images? No Payment Date is reflected in the top image. It has a status of “Pending“.

A Payment date timestamp can be seen at the bottom of the image, displaying the status of “Paid.”. A GCash payment method is also shown.

Now that our NBI clearance has been processed, we can move on to the next step.

NBI Branch Processes Online Clearance Applications

The next step is to wait for the scheduled appointment time and date once you have scheduled an appointment through the NBI Clearance Online website and paid the appropriate fees.

Your reading is correct. You must wait for appointments scheduled the following day, week, or month. Applicants are discouraged from just walking in whenever they feel like it.

In the NBI Clearance Online website, you must select a date and time to schedule an appointment in order to prevent overcrowding and organize the volume of applicants.

The NBI Main Building would be overwhelmed if 10,000 clearance applicants showed up on the same day. It will be chaos!

In reference to our tutorial, make sure that you arrive on time at the NBI branch that you have chosen the day of your scheduled appointment. For instance, if you have an appointment booked in the morning (AM), do not arrive at around 11:45 PM. Please be considerate.

Bring Your NBI Clearance Requirements

Our discussion of NBI Clearance requirements has already taken place. Here’s what you need to know if you forgot:

  • UMID (SSS ID and GSIS)
  • Philippine Passport
  • Philhealth ID
  • PAG IBIG ID
  • Voters ID or Certificate of Registration
  • TIN ID
  • PRC License
  • Driver’s License
  • Authenticated Birth Certificate
  • Driver’s License
  • Postal ID
  • Certification from the Local Civil Registrar
  • Certification from Malacanang in connection with Indegeniois groups, Tribal membership and Foundling
  • Solo Parent ID
  • Company ID (valid only for Government Employees only)
  • Police Clearance issued by the Police Station where Applicant is resident of the Station’s jurisdiction
  • Seaman’s Book and SIRV
  • School ID together with the current Registration Card
  • Senior Citizen ID
  • Marina
  • And lastly, Philippine National ID

At this stage, your fingerprints will be scanned by their biometrics reader using your fingers. You don’t have to worry about this step.

Releasing Of NBI Clearance

The NBI Clearance Staff will now begin processing your personal information as soon as you confirm it is accurate.

That means that your NBI Clearance will be printed and given to you in around (minimum) 30 minutes. It’s just a matter of waiting.

The NBI Branch may ask you to return after seven (7) working days if certain circumstances apply. You have a “HIT” status because the NBI Clearance Staff has found your name after checking and verifying. 

NBI Clearances will be on hold for seven (7) days and further verification and data analysis must be conducted before they are released.

NBI Clearance Outlets and Branches use the term “HIT” when applicants have a namesake and require further verification before releasing the NBI clearance.
